Under en presenning på Stadsgårdskajen i Stockholm mötes Petterson och Bendel. Båda är slitna, nedgångna och panka. Och ändå föreslår Bendel att han och Pettersson ska bilda ett bolag, göra affärer och bli rika. Första affären gäller en bukett violer och sedan är de på gång uppåt i samhället. Pettersson har charmen, Bendel har huvudet och ingen bransch är dem främmande. De fifflar, men inte för mycket. De utnyttjar kryphålen, men är inte direkt olagliga. Det är smarta klipp och allt större pengar. Firma P? går bra, Pettersson och Bendel blir allt rikare och snart etablerar de sig som krögare
