The Legend of Wong Tai Sin Trailer

The Legend of Wong Tai Sin Trailer (1992)

01 January 1992 88 mins

Gold Tortoise is troubled that fairies are having such fun in heaven while people on earth are dying from drought. He mischievously splashes water from the sacred pond, causing an unscheduled rainstorm. Mother of Heaven is furious, but Fairy Kwanyin intercedes for mercy. Under her protection, Gold Tortoise is incarnated as Wong Cho Pin, who is instructed to do 1,000 good deeds before he can return. The young Cho Pin works at tending "sheep" (actually goats !) and loves pretty Siu Lan. But Kwanyin instructs him to learn taoism, so he approaches a wise taoist, under whom he studies Red Pine Gold Sutra for 20 years. Cho Pin wanders the country doing good deeds, some of which are evidently explained in long slabs of Chinese supertitles (which the distributors do not consider important enough to translate in English). Among his adventures, Cho Pin battles the greedy Dr Wang.
