As the year 1995, French magazine editor Jean-Dominique Bauby suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed and speechless acutely aware of the world around him but unable to participate in it. This film chronicles his journey back. Director Jean-Jacques Beineix documents Bauby's struggle to communicate using the one tool he has left an eye-blink showing how he dictated the book that would provide a window into his world.
