Buck Minor was the most detested man in Wolf Hollow, partly because he was quarrelsome and treacherous, partly because he abused and neglected his little wife, Molly, whom all the camp adored, and for whose sake it tolerated Buck.
Out for a stroll, the short-sighted governess is more absorbed in her paper than in governing, leading to a series of unfortunate events, not least returning home with a boy instead of the daughter of the house.
This tragedy depicts a father and son in love with the same woman, who is an enchantress. She keeps them both in subjection with her charms, butthe mother and wife of the victims kills the seducer.
Framed in a wreath of roses we see a lithe Creek dancer, who sways and postures before an epicurean party of ancients, followed by a laurel wreath and encircling a scene showing school children of 1830 receiving their marks of diligence at a distribution of rewards: then the wreath of bay tendered by the Human Senators to Caesar on the culmination of his career; now a beggar receives a loaf called a "crown" from a charitable passerby: Christ is shown crowned with thorns by the rabble; following the divine drama we see the old comedian's wreath presented him at a performance.
Based on the celebrated novel by Alessandro Manzoni, "The Betrothed", the film tells the passage of Lucia being sent on an errand by the Nun of Monza, her kidnapping at the hands of "the Unnamed", and this man's meeting with the Cardinal Borromeo, whose intercession is key for the liberation of Lucia.
Pathé film #2871. In a hotel, a weary traveler settles down to rest. But, hallucinations brought on by fatigue: monsters appear around the bed, which vanishes, while the traveler, thrown to the floor, gets up and grabs a chair.
