Four customers are having a peaceful game of cards in a quiet café. The atmosphere being heavy, the waiter falls asleep and has an unsettling dream about the ills of alcohol, among other things.
A rural schoolmaster, beloved by his pupils, is dismissed from his teaching post when the county’s visiting school inspector is mildly ridiculed in a cartoon which a mischievous pupil has drawn on a blackboard.
John Gary, a hotel owner, who wants to revitalize his business. After reading about a reported mermaid sighting, he has his daughter Ethel pose as a mermaid and gets a newspaper reporter to witness and photograph the mermaid.
An ailing woman is visited by her family doctor. This film was seized by Austrian authorities in 1911, and the fact was announced in the Wiener Zeitung, the Official Journal of Vienna.
