Ellen's happy life is shattered when she discovers George is having an affair with Ardath Courtney, a "social butterfly" and vamp struggling to maintain a facade of wealth. To win George back, Ellen attempts to make him jealous by flirting with Wally Van Tine, the wealthy son of George's employer. Ardath attempts to frame Ellen by sending George to an apartment Ellen has rented for a poor woman, Mrs. Moran, making it look like Ellen's own secret flat. The misunderstanding is cleared when Mrs. Moran’s abusive husband, Jimmy, appears. George realizes Ellen was merely being charitable, thrashes Jimmy, and reconciles with his wife.
