Solemn ceremonies carried out in Cusco during the act of elevating the cathedral of this city to a basilica, sponsored by Her Majesty Victoria Eugenia, Queen of Spain, and the President of the Republic, Mr. Augusto B. Leguía, who delegated their powers to Mrs. Lola Leguía de Martínez Molins and the Prefect of Cusco, Mr. Víctor Vélez. Historical reconstruction of the capture of the Sacsayhuaman fortress by the conquistadors, filmed in the authentic fortress and with the "selfless cooperation of indigenous people of the Inca race." The first mass celebrated by the apostolic nuncio, Monsignor Cicognani, in the same citadel of Machu Picchu, which he blessed, at 4,000 meters above sea level.
