The Reindeer Week held in Helsinki in February 1936 was an event. About thirty Lapland reindeer herders set up camp in the vicinity of the Kaisaniemi restaurant in Töölönlahti. The camp was headed by reindeer herder K. J. Holster from Ylitornio. There were 60 reindeer in the pens. The most sought-after delicacy at the Helsinki Lappish village marketplace was "wild-tasting" reindeer meat. The Reindeer Week was a success, with an estimated 50,000 visitors. The documentary about the Reindeer Week, filmed by Arvo Tamminen, contains a rarity: for the first time in a Finnish film, authentic Lapland yoik can be heard in a 100% audio recording at Suomi-Film's Vironkatu studio.
