The film is made from the works of photographer Pierre Cordier, whom the artist calls chimigrammes, photographic images in various colors and graphics obtained directly on paper by pouring chemicals into them.

Prelude 14 begins in deep brilliant red which darkens into deeper reds and lavender shapes, disrupted by a variety of colors settling into browns and grays and shapes most rock-like, all of which is then shot-thru with sufficient yellow to break up all hard-edge form and give a molten aspect to the mixtures of shapes.
Two characters finding hope and coming together in the bleakest of moments. One marooned on a desolate planet and the other crash landing on the same planet.
The story begins with a parody of a familiar folklore about a rabbit and an earthworm chasing after each other, but the warm atmosphere changes completely to a succession of surreal images, and the story dismantles.
A flash of light splits the darkness, revealing a mysterious image. The images are rapidly replaced with sharp noise that combines wave-like repetitiveness and explosiveness, and the flicker effect that it brings makes the viewer away from reality.

Down-on-his-luck veteran Tsugumo Hanshirō enters the courtyard of the prosperous House of Iyi. Unemployed, and with no family, he hopes to find a place to commit seppuku—and a worthy second to deliver the coup de grâce in his suicide ritual.
