"A memory of boyhood on a northern Saskatchewan farm."01 January 1963Drama, Family14 mins
Based on a short story by Sinclair Ross, this short film recalls rural life on the Prairies in the 1930s. In the film a farmer's young son, sent to town to hire a man for the harvest, readily accepts when an itinerant trumpet player, down on his luck, begs a chance. He is hardly the kind of man the boy's father had in mind, but that night his trumpet speaks from the shadows and everyone pauses to listen.
Klara and Adrian are a young couple. In their free time, they take care of their dog, go to parties and watch their favorite 90s series, which takes place in a fictional paradise.
The short follows the dream of a young boy in which strange whale teleports him to a fantasy land where a happy cat named Pero (modeled after the character in the Nagagutsu wo Haita Neko anime that serves as Toei Animation's mascot) appears.
Don Genaro is an elderly man with a degenerative disease that affects his memory. Admitted to an asylum, his only pastime is looking at photographs of some children, trying to recall who they are.
