The Story of the Faithful Wookiee is the animated cartoon from The Star Wars Holiday Special, first broadcast in November 1978. Chewbacca and C-3PO are on a Rebel supply run when their ship is damaged and they crash on a hostile planet. They fight off strange creatures and Imperial forces, and a bounty hunter named Boba Fett shows up to help. This was Fett’s first appearance anywhere in Star Wars, two years before The Empire Strikes Back. In the Holiday Special, the cartoon is a video Chewbacca’s family watches at home on Kashyyyk during Life Day. The short was animated by Nelvana and has often been circulated on its own, separate from the rest of the special.
