Behind this is a trap set by former treasurer Ibe Tatewaki and his son Denshichiro, whom Jutayu had previously accused of corruption with the government-supplied merchant Yamashiroya, that forced Tatewaki to resign. Enraged, Jutayu takes action to avenge his son’s death.
