The winter is getting on. An impecunious couple hires the old man who is supposed to cut and pile up the firewood for them. In the evening the old man promises the couple to continue his work in the morning. But the next day the old man does not appear for work. Neither does he come for work during the following days. After some time a boy comes up to the frustrated couple and tells them about his grandfather’s death. He also says that before he died, the grandfather told the boy not to disgrace the family and finish the job.
