A sad and lonely donkey wanders through the desert, seeming to find no reason for its existence. One day he offers help to a couple of pilgrims who pass by with a child. Together, they face Roman patrols, sandstorms and many other pilgrims. They finally arrive safely at their destination. The donkey returns to the desert, but he still has a danger to face.
