Mujeria combines two animations that focus on the influence of the Olmeca culture on the filmmaker, who has attempted to go beyond the stereotypical use of Aztec iconography to represent Chicano and Mexican cultural identity by choosing a lesser known but equally important culture in Mexico. In doing so her animations both celebrate the beauty and strength of this culture—particularly as it relates. to women and lesbians—as well as providing an understanding of the history and identity of Third World women.
