Flea raps about the bass as his vehicle of communication of the things that are floating around the room or whatever he’s about that day or that moment with friend and host River Phoenix. Flea discusses the theories, philosophies, styles, sounds and techniques he uses when performing and jamming in the style that he is all about … slapping, plucking, thumping, and popping are brought to new heights, bringing the genres of rock, funk, punk, jazz and Latin together through Flea’s bass like never before. Flea reviews the technique he uses to achieve his unique style and sound, using open strings, double string plucking, left and right hand exercises, variations on slapping, his use of droning.
