Actress Barbara Sukowa began her career in the German theater. In this 2003 interview she discusses her move into film under the direction of Rainer Werner Fassbinder. In 1981, Sukowa starred in Fassbinder’s LOLA, as well as Margarethe von Trotta’s MARIANNE AND JULIANE. She has since worked with Lars von Trier, Michael Cimino, and David Cronenberg.
