The boys in the cadet corps want the same thing, but they are expected to behave correctly, to be precise in their marching steps and to obey completely. And freedom remains unattainable, like an impossible dream. And when officers just "let go of the leash" and give a small illusion of freedom, this state is alien to boys, and they don't know what to do with this freedom.
