Underneath is an insightful and amusing narrative that captures one woman's coming-out journey in a predominantly intolerant community. Seductive Taylor Hayes lives a double life, hiding her true self from her boyfriend and straight-laced best friends. What starts out as an innocent and erotic diversion becomes a precarious adventure when Taylor begins sneaking around, answering mysterious phone calls and having promiscuous sex with women. She seems to see the fun as a flirtatious game until she meets Mya, who tosses her into a fervid tailspin. This beautiful woman is intelligent and compassionate but she also has a boyfriend of five years and a family with strong Baptist roots. The two form an inseparable friendship and before long these fiery women fall deeply in love, forcing them to confront the homophobia from their beloved family, friends and ex-lovers.
