Rolando, an Afro-Peruvian, tells us the story of his ancestors, "African slaves": how they arrived in Peru, their culture, and their persistent struggles during that era of slavery, where the Maroons played a vital role in securing the freedom of enslaved Black people. Rolando and his comrades continue fighting to defend their rights and their identity in a multicultural and multiracial nation.
