Norwegian documentary. The Norwegian owned dog Balto became a great hero and Hollywood star after bringing medicine and saving lives in the town of Nome, Alaska, during an epidemic in the winter of 1925. However, after a year of fame and touring the United States, followed a life of captivity and suffering. Luckily some people still had Balto in their hearts.
This film was made as part of 2001 "The Spirit Returns" exhibit at Seattle's Log House Museum. This film features Cecile Hansen and James Rasmussen (Duwamish Tribe), historians David Buerge and Alexandra Harmon, and author Jonathan Raban.
