Golden Brown is set in England, in Stunning 1960's Cornwall and 1970's Essex. David, a young boy of mixed race spends his days beach-combing for treasure, and dreaming of the girl he loves. One day, following an abusive attack from his father - he is forced to run away. His quest to return home triumphant to his native Cornwall takes him on a roller coaster journey - growing up at sea, living a wild life of sex and drugs in Essex - haunted by visions of a mythical mermaid and stories of the ship-wreck treasure he hopes will win back his love.
