In 2010, an Israeli military raid on an aid flotilla to Gaza led to nine peace activists' deaths, sparking global outrage for excessive force. Italian nationals on board aimed to deliver aid to Gaza, suffering from Israeli sanctions since 2001 leading to poverty and unemployment. Italian groups like Palestine Forum and Rome Palestinian Solidarity Network intensified support for Palestine post-raid, calling for political and economic pressure on Israel. Support for Palestinian cause grows due to perceived injustice and anti-imperialist sentiment. Rossana Platone, a former pro-Israel advocate, now supports Palestinian rights due to land occupation and colonization. She's part of Stop Agrexco group in Rome, promoting boycotts of Israeli agricultural products, including those from settlements in Palestinian territories. Collective actions, however small, are seen as meaningful despite limitations in effecting change.
