He moved to Gaza in 2008 to work for the International Solidarity Movement. He was kidnapped and killed by a Salafi group in April 2011. On April 14th 2011, Vittorio Arrigoni was abducted in Gaza. His kidnappers released a video of Arrigoni and demanded the release of Salafists detained by Hamas. The following day Arrigoni was found dead by Hamas security forces in a house in North Gaza.
