Novaya Zemlya means New Land. This is a short film about my fascination with uncharted territories. It is made of found footage material from photo archives to become a travelogue of other people's memories. The camera and point of view of the explorer's position is gradually dissolved by the inescapable gravity that wants to transform all memories into commemoration. The firmament becomes a mirror that reflects routes and maps, as if a land that can be reached could ever be a true New Land.
