By the 2nd century BC most Jews no longer understood Hebrew and the Bible was unintelligible to them. A Greek translation, the Septuagint, was made. The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha were written and attributed to ancient Biblical heroes. Rabbis and priests had to confront the issue of whether the Septuagint, the Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha were the inspired "Word of God." A 65-minute lecture.
