The film is about a journalist, who is assigned with the task of covering news on Devdasis, a traditional age old system which is now on the verge of extinction. It is during this assignment that the journalist comes to know about the dark side of the system. Lower cast girls were compelled to marry the deities and some men from the upper cast sections used to exploit them for sexual gratification. It is very easy to exploit the people on the issue of religion.
