On Earth, mermaids and dragons are hunted and killed by sea hunters. In the Republic of China, 1927, when Yu Zi Xiao was a little girl, her and her mother were captured for being mermaids. However, a young man was able to solely save Zi Xiao. A hundred years later, in an apocalyptic future during a massive storm, Zi Xiao ventures on land to find and thank the man that saved her. There she meets Gao Hong Tai who looks exactly like that young man. After spending time together, the two fall in love. But at the same time, Zi Xiao is still being sought after by the same man that captured her a hundred years ago, and the end of humankind is nearing. Yu Zi Xiao seems to be the only hope. What will happen to Zi Xiao, her love, and mankind?
