The youngsters, often weathered by street culture, ending up in Michell Requena’s shelter get their last chance here. A remarkable one, as this documentary shows, because this social worker heeds their background. They are children of teen mothers, often coming from a background of addiction problems and physical and mental abuse. These kids have always learned the hard way to fend for themselves. But Michell forces them to abandon this fighting mode, show their vulnerable side and take responsibility for their actions.
