The story centers on Kurumi Hosoya, a high school senior and member of the newspaper club, who is one week away from turning 18. When her childhood friend, Naoki Tachibana, gains sudden fame for rescuing an elderly woman on the last day of his 17th year, Kurumi becomes determined to achieve something remarkable before her own birthday. Her efforts, however, often lead to unintended consequences.
