Their joy is shattered when a municipal officer arrives with the children’s grandparents, who demand custody after discovering the mother’s disappearance. Shocked and heartbroken, the kids long to stay with Miss Nelly and Brian, the only family that truly feels like home. Bound by law and threatened with removal, they devise a daring plan to fight back and keep their newfound life together.
