Carl Joseph C. Lara is an alumnus of the Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Cinema program at the University of San Carlos, Cebu City, Philippines. He is a dreamer, innovator, and adventurer. A mental health advocate and feminist, Carl believes that kindness through artistic expression is one of the effective ways to educate the public on matters. Carl’s recent films include Macabre, a silent film exhibited in international and local film exhibitions, and Kahayag sa Kangitngit, a documentary short that bagged Shorts Jury Prize and People’s Choice Award during BINISAYA 2022; 2nd Best Film, Best Screenplay. Best Editing during Dipolog Film Festival, and part of the official selections during the Cebu Youth Human Rights Film Festival and Cinema Rehiyon 14. Carl lives by the mantra: art saves lives.
