Dmytro Kozatsky was born in the Zhytomyr Oblast. In 2014 he left the Higher School of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów (Poland) to become a participant in the Revolution of Dignity. He is currently a student at the Ostroh Academy National University. In 2015 he joined the National Guard of Ukraine, and later joined the Azov Battalion.

Dmytro Kozatsky with the call sign "Orest", head of the press service of the Azov Battalion (Azov Regiment), has been at the Metallurgical Combine Azovstal since the beginning of the siege of Mariupol by the Russian military after their invasion of Ukraine.
