He was an American film and television writer, best known for creating and developing the TV series Barnaby Jones (1973) and Common Ground (1990), and for writing the TV movie The Day After (1983). He was married to Mindy Elaine Huffman (May 18, 2012 - ?) (divorced), Suzanne Hope Canner (1987 - February 19, 1994) (her death, 1 child), Valerie Munden Godowsky (January 29, 1973 - July 6, 1978) (divorced), Sandra Gershwin Godowsky (April 7, 1962 - July 1972) (divorced, 2 children). He died on July 13, 2023 in Raymond, New Hampshire, USA.
