James O'Barr is an American comic book creator, writer, and artist best known as the mastermind behind the dark, cult-classic graphic novel The Crow. Born on January 1, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan, O'Barr's early life was marked by hardship, spending his childhood in the foster care system.
