Mozaffari is a Canadian film director who was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and later settled in Toronto. Her debut feature, Firecrackers, premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival to critical acclaim. She won a Canadian Screen Award for her work in the film. Mozaffari’s 2023 short film, Motherland, is inspired by her parents’ experiences during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. The film won Best Canadian Short Film at the Toronto International Film Festival and Best Drama at both Aspen Shortsfest and HollyShorts Film Festival. It also earned two Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Live Action Short Drama.
