Jimmy Mageean was an American theatrical and film actor. Born in Massachusetts, he worked as an actor in the US, Canada, and England. He served in the Royal Irish Rifles in the First World War, and settled in Belfast after the war ended. There, he became a leading figure in the city's theatre scene, alongside his close friend Richard Hayward. With Hayward, he moved towards cinema, and became a star of low-budget 'Quota Quickies'. He later returned to America, and died in San Diego in 1972.
