Ludwig Bemelmans was born on 27 April 1898 in Meran, Tyrol, Austria-Hungary [now Merano, Alto Adige, Italy]. He was a writer, known for Shirley Temple's Storybook (1958), Yolanda and the Thief (1945) and The Magnavox Theater (1950). He was married to Madeline Freund. He died on 1 October 1962 in New York City, New York, USA.
