An Egyptian scriptwriter and author, who graduated from the High Cinema Institute in 1983. He formed an artistic duo with director Sherif Arafa, as they presented bold and controversial films such as The Third Class. After Arafa started collaborating with Wahid Hamed, Awwad formed a new duo with the assistant director from his previous films, but this time he served as a director. He was married to actress Soad Hosny until her death.
