Malena Roncayolo is a Venezuelan filmmaker, writer, and producer known for her work in both fiction and documentary cinema. Her films often explore themes of identity, memory, migration, and women’s experiences. She directed the acclaimed feature Pacto de Sangre (1987) and documentaries such as De navíos, ron y chocolate and produced Bleeding Gold (2022), addressing historical and environmental issues in Latin America. Educated in France and the United States, Roncayolo has built a career bridging art and social reflection, and has frequently collaborated with her husband, filmmaker Thaelman Urgelles.
