Nidal Al Dibs was born in 1960 in Syria, and studied directing at Moscow’s VIGIK film school from 1988-94, where his graduation film was Collage (1994). He began working on Syrian films as an assistant director in 1996 and made his professional directing debut with the short film Ya Leil Ya Ein (1999). Under the Ceiling is his first feature film.
