Best known for his directorial venture, Taj Mahal, R. Chandru is a popular writer and director in the Kannada film industry. Taj Mahal, which was Chandru`s maiden directorial venture was a huge hit and it not only performed well at the box office but also earned him a sobriquet `Taj Mahal Chandru` in the media.
Having started his career in the film industry as an assistant director, he assisted renowned directors like S. Narayan, Dayal Padmanabhan, before eventually making his debut as the lead director with Taj Mahal. His other notable directorial ventures include Prem Kahaani (2009), Charminar (2013), Brahma (2014), Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini (2015), Male (2015), which was also his maiden production venture and Kanaka (2018), an action drama starring Duniya Vijay, Hariprriya, and Manvitha Harish. His 2019 release includes I Love You.
