Liverpool As Seen from the Front of an Electric Car from the Pierhead to the Circus Trailer

Liverpool As Seen from the Front of an Electric Car from the Pierhead to the Circus Trailer (1901)

01 January 1901 Factual 2 mins

Filmed from the front of a tram, this is a fine example of the popular early film form known as a 'phantom ride', shot from a moving vehicle to give the audience a virtual journey. Heading from the Pier Head (where the iconic 'Three Graces' had yet to be built), towards the commercial centre of Liverpool, we pass by smartly-dressed city folk - many of whom look towards the camera in fascination.
