Mary Blanton, a nurse with a hidden past, marries Dr. Grayson after leaving her life with a notorious criminal named Red Shang. When Red reappears, he threatens her, but is later injured and brought to the Grayson's home for surgery. During the operation, Mary faces a moral dilemma, but ultimately the patient dies, and she finds solace in her husband's embrace.
