A peasant girl, Milenka, grows a potted plant from which, thanks to a kiss, her fiancé "grows." The film takes Milenka on a journey through the air. The animals on the ground, seeing the flying pair, rejoice and dance. However, at some point, Milenka awakens and discovers that everything is just a dream. The girl, overcome with sadness, fails to notice that a plant is growing in the pot behind her...
QUICK DREAM, subtitled "A Series of Exorcisms," is the result of this first assignment. As Mouris describes it, “This film is a series of visual experiments with magazine photograph cutouts that make moving collages; coloraid paper; Avery labels; whatever I could think of that might animate.
The series, based on the first 16mm film that was shot in a studio with Nakajima’s family and birds, moves through media and processing transformations over many iterations over the years.
