With the cry "Under the gowns the mustiness of 1,000 years" students in the universities mobilized against rigid social structures in the Federal Republic of Germany. It was a rebellion against the established, against outdated values and for more freedom and justice. The students at the Freie Universität in Berlin were in the forefront.
