Ahead of Its Time: The Story of Dublin's Original IMAX Cinema Trailer (2017)

01 December 2017 History, Factual 82 mins

This is the story of Dublin's original IMAX cinema (now currently the site of Dublin's Cineworld cinema), through the eyes and views of the original staff members, including managers, supervisors, projectionists and floor staff. A unique workplace where friendships, relationships and even a few marriages were created. IMAX was brought to Ireland by the Sheridan Group, who developed and built the Parnell Centre. A first of its kind in Ireland, the IMAX cinema opened in June 1998, and closed in October 2000. "Ahead of Its Time" gives a unique insight from the staff members into how the cinema was developed, how it ran, and ultimately why they believe it closed.
