Barbara Brylska nasceu em 5 de junho de 1941, em Skotniki, perto de Lodz, Polônia. Na idade de 15, ela foi escalada para o filme Kalosze szczescia. Após esse papel, ela tomou aulas de atuação em uma escola de teatro e se tornou um estudante na Escola Nacional de Cinema em Łódź. Em 1967, ela completou sua educação atuando no Warsaw School of Theatre, Cinema e Televisão.  Primeiro grande papel de Brylska foi no filme Ich powszedni dzień (1963). Em 1966, ela interpretou a fenícia sacerdotisa Kama no filme Faraó (polonês: Faraon), baseado no romance por Bolesław Prus.  Além de filmes polacos-dirigida, ela também jogou em filmes dirigidos por Soviética, Checoslováquia e búlgaros diretores.  Por seu papel como Nadya no filme de 1975 ironia do destino, dirigida por Eldar Ryazanov, ela recebeu um prêmio do estado soviético. Sua aceitação deste prêmio criou polêmica em seu país de origem. [Carece de fontes?] No entanto, ela se tornou uma atriz popular na União Soviética. Ela viria a afirmar que seu sucesso causou ciúmes na comunidade cinematográfica polaca e levou-a a ignorar seu trabalho. [1]  Em 1977, ela era um membro do júri no Festival de Cinema Internacional de Moscou 10. [2]  Desde 2000 Brylska vem atuando em peças de teatro, principalmente na Rússia. Ela reprisou o papel do Nadya envelhecido em 2007 ironia do destino: The Sequel.
