Famous animation director from China. Former director of Shanghai Animation Film Studio. Vice president of China Animation Society , director of Shanghai Film Association , member of International Animation Association ( ASIFA ). Chief animation designer of the cartoon " Havoc in Heaven ". In 1953 Yan graduated from the Animation Department of Beijing Film School. Joined the Communist Party of China in 1960. He has served as the jury member of the Golden Rooster Award, the former Yugoslav International Animation Film Festival, the Bulgarian International Animation Film Festival, the Seoul (now Seoul) International Animation Film Festival in South Korea and the Second International Animation Film Festival in Shanghai, China. In 1985, he joined the International Animation Association and was elected as the director of the association for two consecutive terms.
